Medicine and Prescription Drugs

SB 212 created an industry-funded and operated statewide stewardship program for medications and sharps, at no cost to the public. If you have unused or unwanted medications at home, you may request a free mail back package online at no cost to you at medtakebackcalifornia.org or by calling (844) 482-5322.

Household medications can also be dropped off the following locations in Napa County. No business waste is accepted. You can also check with your pharmacy to see if they accept medications. Please remove personal information from the medication containers before dropping off.

Check out medtakebackcalifornia.org for more info and drop off location listings throughout California.

Prescription collection locations in Butte County can be found through CalRecycle on their Pharmacy & Sharps Waste Program List.

It is against the law to leave any material at these locations after hours.

Empty pill bottles can go in the recycling cart.
